How can we make Surrey an even better place to live?

Resident understanding of the more complex public services can be improved with a series of videos using plain English.

Drawing inspiration from Common Craft (http://www.commoncraft.com/) the videos can provide residents with the knowledge they need to be better informed and make better decisions. This will reduce the demand of customer services.

A good video is more likely to be shared between residents which increases the reach of the message. Where relevant, videos can also be shared between authorities which reduces duplication of effort.

A good place to start would be with these topics: Applying for a school place, Adult social care, How potholes are created/reported and filled, Two tier system of local government

Here is an example of a great plain English video that explains how US Presidents are elected: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ok_VQ8I7g6I

I am currently working with the Blue Badge team to create a short video outlining how to apply for a badge and what to consider. As there is such a lot of info to consider the aim of the video is to highlight the key points and address some FAQ which come through to the contact centre.
